Inner Sunset and Forest Hill Neighborhood

Rachele in Forest Hill Neighborhood

Rachele and I walked about 7 miles today in the Inner Sunset and through the Forest Hill Neighborhood, which is really a part of the Inner Sunset. It's a nice neigborhood with lots of mcMansions, which is I'm sure why they had to give themselves their own neighborhood name which is different from boring old Inner Sunset. Along the way, we stopped on West Portal for lunch at the same submarine shop I went to yesterday (Why go anywhere different?), and then we carried our sandwich next door to a nice little Giants pub and washed it down with a Sierra Nevada. Living the life!

New Shoes! Inner Sunset!

New Shoes!

I put on my new shoes and walked almost 7 miles in the Inner Sunset today, down 18th Street and back on Portola and Laguna Honda. There's a definite chill in the air these days - I guess Indian Summer is over, and Winter is around the corner.

I stopped at the Submarine Center on West Portal for a delicious Italian sub - I love the West Portal neighborhood - It's a great mix of interesting restaurants, stores, movie theatre, etc.

The Presidio

Building on Kobbe Ave. in the Presidio

Today, on a beautiful Fall day, I walked alone through the Presidio and thought about my life. Almost 50 and so many more things to accomplish! I'm thankful for my partner, my family and friends, and I live in paradise. I'm melancholy and then I'm consoled - My walks are my therapy.

Sunset District

Riptide Bar at Taraval and 47th Ave.

Today I walked through the Sunset District again, down Sunset Ave. and then back on 47th, and up Judah St. Today being the first day of the World Series, I saw Giants clothing, signs and flags everywhere. Go Giants!

I've thankfully almost finished walking the Outer Sunset - Not the most exciting neighborhood in San Francisco!

Foggy Day in the Sunset

On the Roof with Jon and Chloe

Today was as foggy as could be, and even more so in the Sunset - I guess we're back to foggy Summer weather. The picture above is from last night, when it was still Indian Summer conditions, which is more typical for this time of year.

Today I walked through Golden Gate Park, down the Great Highway to Sloat, and then back on 45th, covering about 10 miles. The Great Highway runs adjacent to the Beach, and consequently, it's a surfer's hangout. Today, I saw lots of surfers, and was reminded of the whole surfer sub-culture (surf stores, surfer coffee shops, etc.).
