Jon, Rachele and I walked through Golden Gate Park today to check out the North Dutch Windmill near the ocean. This windmill was originally constructed in 1902, and restored in the early 1980's. The original intent of the Windmill was to pump water throughout the park (20,000 gallons per hour), but it became obsolete and fell into disrepair. In 1966, a committee was formed to pursue the restoration of the windmill, which was completed in 1981. The windmill is a San Francisco landmark (#147).
